Experience the Timeless Beauty of Cuba! 

Join Road Runner Photography Tours for a “life list” adventure. We will spend 9 days/8 nights exploring Cuba and the surrounding villages, from Havana to Trinidad! In this immersive experience, you will experience Cuba’s amazing culture, historic cars, epic sea wall, as well as stunning landscapes as travel in to heart of the island. Beautiful and charming people, delicious food, epic photography, and amazing opportunities. With local hosts and guides, this is a tour not to be missed.

 

You will enjoy: 

  • Flights from Miami to Cuba and back, as well as Visas. You will need to book your own flight to Miami, making sure to arrive on Friday, February 9, for our morning flight to Cuba on February 10. 
  • All meals, and 2 beverages per each lunch and dinner (local beer, bottled water, soft drinks, house wine, local rum cocktail). Bottled water will be available all day.
  • Access to and dinner at la Fábrica de Arte Cubano (FAC)/After Dinner tour La Fabrica (which night TBD)

Sample Itinerary – Final itinerary is still being determined, as we want to be as fluid as possible. 

Day 1 (February 10) Saturday – Welcome to Cuba!

  • Land in Havana, Cuba
  • Meet at the Havana airport by your guide & transfer to accommodations.
  • Check into your privately owned accommodations & orientation
  • 1:00pm Lunch 
  • Sunset: We go to El Capitolio, a replica of the US Capitol building where the Cuban Parliament will assemble once renovations are complete, to get sunset photos of the old cars passing before the capitol building and the famed Gran Teatro, home of the Cuba National Ballet.
  • 8:30pm Dinner 

Day 2 (February 11) Sunday – Exploring Havana

  • 8:00am: Breakfast at the house
  • 9:00am: We leave the house to catch a boat to Regla, a small neighborhood known for practicing AfroCuban religions/Santeria.
  • 1:30pm Lunch in Cojimar, a small fishing village that was the inspiration for Old Man & the Sea.
  • Afternoon: We tour Habana Vieja (Old Havana), an UNESCO World Heritage site, and take in its incredible Spanish architecture.
  • Sunset: Explore the Malecón with your camera. Wander the famous seawall along with locals as they come out to relax by the sea.
  • 9:00pm: Dinner 

Day 3 (February 12) Monday – Exploring Havana

  • 7:30am: Breakfast
  • 9:00am: More exploring of the neighborhoods of Havana.
  • 12:00 Lunch 
  • Sunset: We arrive at El Morro for a sunset view of Havana
  • 8:00pm Dinner

Day 4 (February 13) Tuesday – Trip to Viñales

  • 8:00am: Breakfast at the house
  • 8:30am: Depart for Viñales, another UNESCO World Heritage site in Pinar del Rio Province, visiting villages along the way.  
  • Lunch
  • Dinner/Sunset: We dine overlooking the majestic Viñales Valley.

Day 5 (February 14) Wednesday – Viñales/Havana

  • 6:30am: We take in a sunrise view of Viñales Valley from a different perspective. 
  • Breakfast
  • Morning: We walk into the Valley, visit a Tobacco farms.
  • 1:30pm Lunch 
  • Sunset: We’ll head back to Havana. After dropping our luggage we’ll go to the Hotel Nacional to catch the sunset over el Malecón while enjoying a drink on the outdoor terrace.
  • 8:00pm Dinner 

Day 6 (February 15) Thursday – More to see in Havana

  • 6:30am: Sleep in or join for a Sunrise view of el Malecón.
  • Breakfast: at House
  • 1:30: Lunch
  • Afternoon: More street Photography in Centro Havana or Souvenirs at Mercado San Jose
  • 7: 30pm Dinner 

Day 7 (February 16) Friday – Trinidad/ UNESCO World Heritage Site

  • 8:30am: We say goodbye to Havana and head to Trinidad.
  • 1:00pm: Lunch 
  • Afternoon/Evening: We arrive to Trinidad, check into our rooms. Then we capture the sunset.
  • Dinner: At local restaurant

Day 8 (February 17) Saturday – Trinidad

  • 6:15am: We get a sunrise view of Trinidad.
  • Morning: We’ll spend the day in and around Trinidad.
  • Lunch: 
  • Afternoon: Wander the streets and photograph in the afternoon.
  • Dinner/Sunset: We spend our last dinner together listening to live music and watching the sun set on the rooftop bar of El Criollo Bienvenido a la Terraza

Day 9 (February 18) Sunday – Cienfuegos. The Pearl of the South and Return to the US

  • 7:00am: Breakfast
  • 7:30am: We check out and leave for Cienfuegos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • 12:00: Lunch in Cienfuegos
  • 1:30 pm: Begin the transfer to the airport in Santa Clara driving through rural towns.
  • 3:00 pm: Arrive at Airport in time for our
  • 6:00 pm : Departure for Miami

Additional Information: 

While most shooting locations can be reached by road, we will do some hiking. Hikes will typically be easy to moderate in difficulty and cover rocky terrain. Decent physical fitness will certainly facilitate your enjoyment of this workshop. If you don’t feel that you can manage the longer hike, you are welcome to stay in town that morning. 

Weather in Cuba in February is generally lovely, with warm, not hot temperatures. However, weather can be unpredictable and strong winds, rain, and cooler temperatures can occur as storms move through. So, bring a variety of clothing, including a rain resistant jacket, hoodie, etc. Also bring good shoes for walking, as we will be cover a lot of ground in town.

  • Drinks in excess of what is allotted in the meals.
  • Other expenses of a personal nature: (i.e. Souvenirs)
